Bobby Moynihan reunites with his longtime friend and collaborator, Tina Fey, on the new NBC comedy, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins

Moynihan plays Rusty, the best friend and sidekick to the titular character, played by Tracy Morgan, in the show, which Fey executive-produced

"I look up to her more than anybody in the world," Moynihan, 49, tells PEOPLE of Fey, 55

Not even Tina Fey's longtime friends are immune to her incredible talent.

Bobby Moynihan — who has worked with Fey numerous times on everything from Saturday Night Live to Sisters — stars in her new comedy, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which sees Tracy Morgan play the titular disgraced NFL player, hoping to rehabilitate his public image by hiring a struggling director (Daniel Radcliffe) to make a documentary about him.

Moynihan plays Reggie's best friend and trusted sidekick, Rusty, in the sitcom, which brought him back into Fey's orbit three years after he appeared on Mr. Mayor, which she created.

"Don't make me say this on camera. She's the best," Moynihan, 49, tells PEOPLE. "I look up to her more than anybody in the world."

"I've been such a fan for so long. It's very insane that she even knows who we are," he says, referring both to himself and his costar, Radcliffe.

That awe extends so far that Moynihan admits, "She texts me sometimes, and I get nervous. I go away."

"You just want to impress her because she's so great," he explains of his nerves about texting Fey, 55. "She's the greatest."

"Anything she does, I watch like a hawk. Don't tell her that because that's creepy."

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins was helmed by Fey, Morgan and two other 30 Rock alums, Robert Carlock and Sam Means, all of whom were more than happy about the idea of revisiting the magic of their classic sitcom, which ended in 2013.

“He’s just such a wonderful presence to be around, and I’ve really missed him,” Fey told Entertainment Weekly of working with Morgan again.

"Between takes, he’ll be telling a crazy story, and then the next moment he and I will be embracing, and he’s in tears about his gratitude for life,” she said, referring to the near-fatal car crash he survived in 2014, which killed his friend and mentor, Jimmy McNair.
