The Justice Department has released a trove of documents related to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and they include mentions of the former Prince Andrew.

One of the thousands of pages of new documents released on Dec. 23 is a 2001 email correspondence from a person using the alias "The Invisible Man," who signs off as "A" while writing to Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell that "I am up here at Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family."

"How's LA?" the email reads. "Have you found me some new inappropriate friends? Let me know when you are coming over as I am free from 25th August until 2nd Sept. and want to go somewhere hot and sunny with some fun people before having to put my nose firmly to the grindstone for the Fall. Any ideas gratefully received!"

"See ya A xxx," the email concludes. The files did not confirm whether "The Invisible Man" is Andrew.

Maxwell is serving 20 years in prison after being convicted of sex trafficking in 2021.

USA TODAY has reached out to a representative for Andrew for comment.

Prince Andrew arrives to Westminster Cathedral in London on Sept. 16, 2025.

The Epstein files have been released without context, and the allegations within have not been independently confirmed by USA TODAY.

Another 2002 email in the files shows "Gx" writing to another person that "I just gave Andrew your" phone number and asking this person to set him up on a trip to Peru. "Gx" says to expect a call from a "very English sounding gentleman" and asks the person to "show him a wonderful time" and "only introduce him to friends that you can trust and rely on to be friendly and discreet and fun." This email was forwarded by "Gx" to "The Invisible Man," who replied, "Got it I will ring him today if I can."

The files also include a partially redacted FBI intake form dated 2020, in which an unidentified person claims they were "drugged at night and driven by my father" to "pedophile ring 'parties" between age 6 and 8. The person goes on to allege that they were "hit by a dark blue car" driven by Prince Andrew.

1 / 1Virginia Giuffre memoir on alleged abuse by Prince Andrew coming months after her death.Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre speaks at a press conference following a hearing where Jeffrey Epstein victims made statements, at Manhattan Federal Court on Aug. 27, 2019, in Manhattan, New York.

"I was not taken to hospital, but I suffered permanent injuries to my ribs, hip and leg on my right side," the person claims. "The car's hood figurine broke off in my hand on impact and I later buried it near my home, so it could still be recoverable as evidence."

Still another document, dated April 2020, shows how the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI sought to interview Andrew because an ongoing Epstein investigation "revealed that Prince Andrew may have been a witness to and/or participant in certain events of relevance to the ongoing investigation." The document notes, though, that Andrew "is not presently a target of the investigation, and U.S. authorities have not, to date, gathered evidence that he has committed any crime under U.S. law."

In October, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Andrew will no longer use his royal titles after years of scrutiny over his past friendship with Epstein. Andrew previously stepped back from his public duties in 2019 in the wake of a disastrous interview with the BBC about the Epstein scandal. He said at the time the "circumstances relating to my former association with" Epstein had "become a major disruption."

Also in October, a posthumous book by Virginia Giuffre was published, reiterating her allegations that Epstein trafficked her to Andrew when she was 17. Andrew has denied the allegations.

Previous Epstein files released on Dec. 19 included a photo that showed Andrew lying across the laps of five women, as Maxwell looks on. The faces of the women were obscured.
