Jackson White revealed that he accidentally gave girlfriend Grace Van Patten a Cartier wedding ring

"I didn't know," the actor said during an episode of Call Her Daddy

Van Patten and White first met in 2022 while filming season 1 of Hulu's Tell Me Lies

Jackson White is not quite ready to propose to his Tell Me Lies costar and girlfriend, Grace Van Patten.

During an appearance on the Wednesday, Feb. 18, episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the actor, 29, revealed the slight snafu behind a piece of jewelry he gave Van Patten, 29.

When host Alex Cooper asked about the best gift he'd ever given the actress, White said, "I got her a little Cartier last year."

"I got a Cartier ring," he continued, "But ... I didn't know it was the wedding ring ... it was so funny. I was like, 'I didn't know.'"

The actor is presumably referring to Cartier's popular Love Ring, which can range from $1,400 to $19,000, depending on the style.

"It's a sick ring, though," White added. "You don't have to wear it as a wedding [ring]. We just, like, have it on other fingers."

Van Patten and White first met in 2022 while filming season 1 of the Hulu original series based on the book of the same name. The two were coy about their relationship at first, teasing sneak peeks on social media, but seemingly confirmed they were dating when they stepped out holding hands in November 2022.

Ahead of the show's season 2 premiere in September 2024, Van Patten spoke to PEOPLE, sharing that it was "trippy" to work with White on the show "because we are together in real life and he knows me better than anyone."

In a January appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, White revealed that he let Van Patten tattoo him early on in their relationship.

When host Drew Barrymore asked about the “craziest thing” he did to impress Van Patten before they “started dating," he replied, “You know what it’s like in the courtship phase? I let her tattoo me, like, all over my body."

“For real?” Barrymore, 50, responded. “With a sharpie… or a stick and poke?”He confirmed it was the latter, prompting gasps from the audience. The Charlie's Angels star then asked if Van Patten did any of the tattoos that he had that were visible.

On his middle finger, an “x” could be seen and an “o” on his ring finger as well.

“That’s her?” Barrymore asked. The actor pointed to the back of his hand, “And like there she gave me, like, a thing there.”

“She gave me some lightning bolts on my…,” he trailed off before pointing behind his ear. “She went crazy. And I wanted to do that. I love tattoos, but I was also like, ‘Yeah, do whatever you want. Here’s my body. Go do it. I’m your canvas.’"
