Since Agatha Christie started publishing detective novels in 1920, her works have been ripe for adaptation. Now, Netflix is throwing their hat in the ring with their first project based on a Christie book, Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, which is drawn from her 1929 novel, The Seven Dials Mystery. Surprisingly, Seven Dials has only been adapted once before, as a 1981 television film.

The plot is set in September 1925, following young aristocrat Lady Eileen Brent, who goes by Bundle. She’s attending a masquerade party at her country home when a guest—who happens to be her boyfriend—is murdered. “If this show can be the gateway drug to introduce a whole new generation into Agatha Christie’s books and adaptations, that would be a joy. It would be repaying all the joy that she’s brought to my life and billions of readers,” creator Chris Chibnall, of Broadchurch fame, said.

Mia McKenna-Bruce as Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent

The heroine of The Seven Dials Mystery is young woman Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, who becomes an amateur detective. She is portrayed by Mia McKenna-Bruce, who previously starred in How to Have Sex, Vampire Academy, and will next be seen in The Lady.

Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Caterham

Lady Caterham, Bundle’s mother, is mourning the loss of her husband and son. She’s played by the famous Helena Bonham Carter—known for roles including The Wings of the Dove, The King’s Speech, the Harry Potter Series, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and many, many more.

Martin Freeman as Superintendent Battle

Superintendent Battle, an investigator from Scotland Yard, gets assigned to the case. Battle is portrayed by Martin Freeman, of Sherlock, The Hobbit, Fargo, and Marvel fame (among many other projects).

Corey Mylchreest as Gerry Wade

Queen Charlotte and My Oxford Year star Corey Mylchreest plays Gerry Wade, the murder victim and Bundle’s beau.

Edward Bluemel as Jimmy Thesiger

Jimmy is one of Bundle and Gerry’s friends who reluctantly assists Bundle in finding out what happened. He’s played by Edward Bluemel, whom you may recognize from his starring roles in My Lady Jane, A Discovery of Witches, Killing Eve, and more.

Nyasha Hatendi as Dr. Cyril Matip

Nyasha Hatendi—who has starred in TV shows including Alex Rider and Casual, and movies such as Swan Song and Genie—plays Dr. Cyril Matip. Dr. Matip is a take on the novel’s Herr Eberhard, an inventor, who has a secret formula that the British are trying to purchase.

Nabhaan Rizwan as Ronnie Devereux

Another friend of Gerry, Ronnie (Ronny in Christie’s novel) gets looped into Bundle’s quest for the truth, and hints at the “Seven Dials” conspiracy. He’s portrayed by British actor Nabhaan Rizwan, best known for Informer, The Accident, 1917, Station Eleven, Film Club, Dope Girls, and Kaos.

Hughie O’Donnell as Bill Eversleigh

Bill is another Gerry pal who works at the Foreign Office. He teams up with Bundle to investigate what happened to his friend. He’s played by relative newcomer Hughie O’Donnell, who has just one other acting credit to his name: Fight or Flight.

Alex Macqueen as George Lomax

George Lomax is the Under-secretary for State for Foreign Affairs, and Gerry and Bill Eversleigh’s boss. He’s played by actor Alex Macqueen, who has been in many films and TV shows including Doctor Who, The Inbetweeners, Hijack, Downton Abbey: A New Era, and more.

Mark Lewis Jones as Sir Oswald Coote

Sir Oswald Coote, a self-made millionaire, is a guest at the Caterham home. He’s portrayed by Welsh actor Mark Lewis Jones, who has starred in Master and Commander, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Stella, Chernobyl, Keeping Faith, and many other movies and television shows.
