Zara Larsson recalled kissing her best friend's boyfriend when she was 16

During the Wednesday, April 22 episode of Call Her Daddy, the pop star opened up about the meaning behind the original version of "Girl's Girl"

Larsson will release her remix album Midnight Sun: Girls Trip on May 1

Zara Larsson got candid about how real-life events inspired her song "Girl's Girl."

During the Wednesday, April 22 episode of Call Her Daddy, the Swedish pop star recalled her time being "messy as a teenager."

Larsson, 28, admitted that kissing her best friend's boyfriend at 16 inspired the original version of the Midnight Sun track.

The "Lush Life" hitmaker recalled celebrating at a New Year's Eve party where one of her best friend's boyfriends flirted with her all night.

According to Larsson, they had all been drinking for a while, and she "was really interested in his friend."

She recalled grabbing her jacket before everyone was heading out from the party when her best friend's boyfriend started kissing her.

"I just kissed him back because I was messy like that," said Larsson. "And I was 16 and really drunk."

She added, "The f---ed up thing about this though, was that the girl whose [house] we had had the party at, she filmed this, and I didn't know. So before I got the chance to tell my friend what happened the next day, she had already got the video sent to her."

Larsson said that she wasn't "in love" with or "interested" in the guy, but called the incident a "weird, unforgivable mistake that happened."

"But obviously seeing [the video], she just cut me off, and all my friends just cut me off, and I was just like a floating piece of trash in the universe," she laughed.

According to the "Pretty Ugly" performer, her friend didn't talk to her for four years.

In an April interview with The Guardian, the “Midnight Sun” hitmaker claimed she lost a $3 million brand deal after joking with a fan on social media about getting an abortion after one of Larsson's shows.

Earlier in the month, a fan shared a TikTok video of Larsson performing on stage and wrote, “I didn't know I was pregnant here but at least my baby got to hear midnight sun before I aborted it.”

Larsson then replied in the comments, “I killed the performance and then you killed it after the performance purrrrrr.”

According to the "Ruin My Life" artist, she "lost $3M, which is the biggest brand deal I'd been offered in my life.”

But Larsson ultimately didn't care about losing the potential paycheck.

"I was genuinely like: Okay, losers!” she added.

Larsson is set to release her remix album Midnight Sun: Girls Trip on May 1.

The record will feature collaborations with artists including Shakira, PinkPantheress, Robyn and more.
